Perseverance and Prayer

Sometimes morning prayer brings threads together in ways in which I can only believe God has intended. Today I was using the Sodality of Mary, Mother of Priests manual as usual and the section I read was Evangelism, and the words of Rowan Williams asking us to think on what made Jesus so compellingly attractive to us? I felt I needed to stop and think about this because in a very busy life with 2 intense jobs across three different areas, had I forgotten the basic - why was a relationship with Jesus so attractive to me?

I will perhaps work on that on another post, but for now I want to show how God works if we are open.

Having pondered on this I turned to the intention for today. It is for the propagation of the faith. Of course! And as ever my prayers are for St Mark’s in particular as the project I have been given is to grow this Christian community.

Next I opened the app I use to do morning prayer and as always I look for and read about the saint that is being remembered. Today is St Maximilian Kolbe. Again, I will not go into his life here but look him up! His life and death is an amazing witness to the faith he had in Jesus. But the writer of the piece on Kolbe ended by saying, we cannot all be saints and the do the stuff Kolbe did, but we can work towards becoming like him. And the way to do this is through ‘perseverance and prayer’.

I believe God is gently reminding me that I am not alone in this task. And it is not about numbers and targets but keeping going, and praying. Anyone who wants to help us out.. please pray for St Mark’s and growth of a relevant ChristIan witness in Milton Ward! 🙏🏽
